Common Frequency was developed as part of the 2026 adidas Originals Creator Network North, a six-month creative development programme established by adidas Originals and Factory International. The exhibition brought together work by 20 creatives exploring the relationship between music, identity, memory and community through photography, moving image, installation, film and print.
My contribution developed across several interconnected photographic projects exploring different ways music can be experienced and observed, from the private act of listening to the physical objects and environments through which sound is produced.
Alongside developing, creatively directing, photographing and producing my own work, I was part of the team behind the accompanying zine, contributing to its creative direction, design development and project management.
Somewhere in the music
Creative Direction, Photography, Production
Somewhere in the Music explores the quieter and more personal relationship we have with sound. Rather than focusing on performance or collective experience, the series looks at moments when music becomes part of everyday life: listening alone, pausing in a doorway, looking through a window or moving through the city with a soundtrack of your own.
Music exists throughout the photographs as an invisible presence, shaping mood, memory and our perception of place. Moving between constructed and observational moments, the series uses gesture, movement and environment to reflect the private emotional space that can form around listening.

Sonata Film - Supporting Photography
A series of supporting photographs created on the set of Marionette, one of the films developed for Common Frequency. The images focus on fragments of performance, costume and movement, extending elements of the film into still photographic form.

Forsyth Music Shop
Photographed at Forsyth Music Shop in Manchester, established in 1857. This small series shifts attention from the experience of listening to the physical objects through which music is made, observing the materials, construction and details of instruments and the relationship between physical form and sound.
The photographs were created as part of my wider exploration of music for Common Frequency.
